What you'll learn

1. What babies can do

Verbal: A baby mostly sleeps, drinks milk, and cries to ask for help.

Verbal: A child can walk, talk, eat by themselves, and learn ABC and counting.

3. Becoming independent

Verbal: Brushing your own teeth, dressing yourself, and helping at home show you are growing up.

Worked example

Meera learns to eat by herself

Step 1 — As a baby, Meera was fed with a spoon by her mother.
Step 2 — As a toddler, Meera tried holding the spoon herself.
Step 3 — As a 6-year-old, Meera eats her whole meal by herself.
Step 4 — This new skill shows Meera is more independent now.
Answer: growing up means learning to do more things by yourself.
