Number Coding

Comprehensive notes, formulas, and practice questions for Number Coding.

Number Coding

Number Coding

What you'll learn

  • A=1, B=2, … Z=26 letter position code.
  • Digits can spell words in puzzles.
  • Simple position sums (CAT = 3+1+20 = 24).
  • Use alphabet-number line in exam.

Key concepts

Level 1 — Core idea

Verbal: A is first letter → 1; B → 2.

Symbolic: D = 4, O = 15, G = 7 → DOG sum = 26 (intro).

Visual: Table A–Z with numbers 1–26 underneath.

Level 2 — Going deeper

Reverse: 26 may be Z. Some puzzles code word as concatenation (1-12-5 for ALE) — read question style.

NCERT anchor

NCERT Math Mela number puzzles and English alphabet together build this skill.

Worked example

Find number for B and D.

Step 1 — A=1 → B=**2**, D=**4**
Answer: B=2, D=4 ✓

Position sum of BAD (intro).

Step 1 — B=2, A=1, D=4
Step 2 — Sum = 2+1+4 = **7**
Answer: **7**

Quick check

  • Number for M?
  • A=1 — what is C?
  • Sum of A + B?
  • Stretch: Which letter is 26?

Revision tip: Memorise A=1, E=5, J=10, O=15, T=20, Z=26 anchors.

Interactive Exploration Suggestions (Drishti Live Worlds)

  • Use the platform-native live simulation or PhET-style tool for this topic (number line, Venn, physics playground, molecule builder, sensor dashboard, etc.).
  • Mirror / body / home activity: physically do the concept (count objects, measure, role-play) and photograph or describe for portfolio.
  • Voice or text reflection with AI Mentor: explain the concept to a younger student or family member.

AI Mentor Prompts (Socratic, Board-Adaptive)

  • "Explain this concept to a Class 6 student using one real example from an Indian home, school, market, or festival."
  • "What is one common mistake students make here, and how would you catch yourself making it?"
  • Stretch: "How does this connect to coding, robotics, money, health, environment, or a future career?"

Gamification, Portfolio & Parent Visibility

  • Complete the core practice + one extension activity (photo, table, short reflection, or mini-project) for base XP + topic badge.
  • 5-7 day streak or family discussion note = multiplier + visible artifact in parent/principal dashboard.
  • Best real-world application stories (anonymised) featured on class or national leaderboard.

Robotics, STEM & Future Skills Bridges

  • One hands-on project or measurement using the Drishti kit or household items that makes the concept physical.
  • Direct link to at least one Future Skill track (Money Management, Green Tech, Cyber Defenders, Micro-Entrepreneurship, AI Mastery, Sustainable Living, Personality Development).
  • Coding extension where relevant (simple script, simulation, or data logging).

NEP 2020 & Full Education OS Alignment

This material emphasises experiential "learning by doing", competency (apply/create/analyse), vocational exposure, critical thinking, and multidisciplinary connections. Designed to feed live worlds, AI Mentor (with memory), gamification, robotics, parent analytics, and future skills — not just exam prep.

Portfolio Evidence Idea: Your photo/table/reflection/project + one sentence on "How this helps me in real life or a possible future path."

Open the Practice tab for aligned questions (easy/medium/hard + case-based) with full AI scaffolding.
