Describing Adjectives

• Adjectives describe nouns — what kind? which one? how many?
• Place before noun (red ball) or after is/am/are (The ball is red).
• Answer questions: What kind? Which? How many?
• Enrich Marigold descriptions — 'old tree', 'kind teacher'.

Level 1 — Core idea

Verbal: Add a describing word: dog → brown dog.

Symbolic: Adjective + noun; or noun + is + adjective.

Visual: Circle adjective in: The tall boy carries a heavy bag.

Level 2 — Going deeper

What kind = wooden table. Which = first day. How many = three books (number adjectives).

Find adjective: The clever fox jumps.

Step 1 — Fox = noun
Step 2 — **Clever** describes fox
Answer: **clever** ✓

Rewrite with adjective after verb: The sky is ___. (blue)

Step 1 — Pattern: sky **is** blue
Step 2 — **Blue** after is/am/are
Answer: The sky is **blue**. ✓

• Stretch: Write sentence with two adjectives before one noun.
