Personal Pronouns
What you'll learn
- Subject pronouns — I, you, he, she, it, we, they — replace nouns doing the action.
- Pick the pronoun matching person and number (one girl → she).
- Intro to I vs me — I as subject; me after to/for.
- CBSE Class 3 English reader sentences use pronouns to avoid repetition.
Key concepts
Level 1 — Core idea
Verbal: Instead of repeating 'Ravi' every time, say 'He runs, he jumps.'
Symbolic: Ravi runs → He runs. The girls sing → They sing.
Visual: Table: 1st person I/we, 2nd you, 3rd he/she/it/they.
Level 2 — Going deeper
I + verb: I am happy. Me after to/for: Give it to me. At Class 3, check if pronoun does the verb (subject).
NCERT anchor
NCERT Class 3 English (Marigold / Santoor) stories use he/she for characters. Read aloud and circle pronouns in one paragraph.

| 2nd | you | You are kind. |
| 3rd | he, she, it, they | She reads. It barks. |

Step 2 — Subject pronoun = **she**
Step 3 — **She** loves drawing. ✓
The boys kick the ball. → ? kick the ball.
Step 1 — More than one boy → **they**
Step 2 — **They** kick the ball.

Common mistakes
| Mistake | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|

| They for one girl | Number error | One → he/she |
| It's for its tail | Apostrophe mix | Its = belonging; it's = it is |
| He/him swap as subject | Case confusion | Subject → he runs |
