This Is… Sentences

NCERT anchor: NCERT English Mridang Class 1 — Unit 3: This is a… sentence pattern

• Make sentences This is a… for one nearby thing.
• Use a before consonant sounds: This is a bat.
• Point to object while speaking — book, pen, mango.

1. Pattern

Level 1 (Verbal): This is a + thing you can point at.

Level 2 (Symbolic): This = near you; That = far (later).

Visual: Pointing finger + object + speech bubble.

2. Use a

Verbal: This is a cat (one cat, general).

Visual: One mango in hand — This is a mango.

3. Capital and full stop

This starts sentence; ends with .

Step 1 — Hold up cricket bat.
Step 2 — Say: **This is a bat.**
Step 3 — Write on board with capital T and full stop.
Step 4 — Friend holds ball: **This is a ball.**
Answer: two This is a… sentences.
