Calendar Sequence
Calendar Sequence
What you'll learn
- Recall the order of the 7 days of the week and 12 months.
- Find the day or month that comes before or after a given one.
- Count forward a few days to find a future day.
Key concepts
Level 1 — Core idea
Verbal: The week always runs Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday — then it repeats. The year always runs January through December.
Symbolic: Days repeat every 7 (a cycle); Months repeat every 12 (a cycle). After Sunday comes Monday again.
Visual: Picture the days written in a circle — after going around Sunday, your finger lands back on Monday.
Level 2 — Going deeper
When counting several days forward and you pass Sunday, simply continue into Monday — the week just starts over. This wrap-around idea also works for months (after December comes January).

Common mistakes
| Mistake | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Forgetting the week wraps around | Stopping at Sunday | After Sunday, continue counting from Monday |
| Off-by-one when counting forward | Counting "today" as day 1 | Start counting from the very next day |
| Mixing up month order | Less practiced than days | Recite Jan–Dec in order before answering |
| Confusing "before" with "after" | Rushed reading | Re-check the direction word in the question |
Quick check
- What day comes right before Friday?
- Which month comes right after August?
- Which month comes right before May?
- Stretch: If today is Wednesday, what day will it be after 5 days?
Revision tip: Say the full week or month list out loud, then point to the answer.
