Basic Directions

Going clockwise (like a clock's hands), the order is: North to East to South to West to back to North.

Turning right moves you one step clockwise in this order. For example, facing North and turning right makes you face East.

Turning left moves you one step anticlockwise (the reverse order): North to West to South to East to back to North.

North and South are opposite. East and West are opposite.

If you are facing North and you turn to your right, which direction do you now face?

Step 1 — Turning right moves clockwise: North to East.

Step 1 — East and West are opposite directions.
