Simple Present Tense
What is the Simple Present?
The Simple Present tense describes actions that are habitual, factual, general, or happening right now as a commentary. It is NOT limited to what is happening at this exact moment (that's Present Continuous).
Four Uses of the Simple Present

How to Form the Simple Present
Positive Sentences

| I / We / You / They | base form: go, eat, write |
| He / She / It | base form + -s/-es: goes, eats, writes |
Adding -s/-es rules:
- Most verbs: add -s → plays, runs, reads
- Verbs ending in -ch, -sh, -o, -x, -z: add -es → teaches, washes, goes, fixes
- Verbs ending in consonant + y: change y → i, add -es → study → studies, fly → flies
Negative Sentences
